Transvaginal mesh manufacturer C.R. Bard was denied its request to exclude certain documents from a bellwether transvaginal mesh lawsuit. The documents included an employee’s admission that the transvaginal mesh product was linked to adverse events and a proposal to alter them.
The judge ruled that the documents pertain to the transvaginal mesh lawsuit, which alleges that C.R. Bard knew of the risks of side effects associated with transvaginal mesh. Thousands of women have complained of severe transvaginal mesh side effects related to the devices.
Several manufacturers have issued transvaginal mesh recalls after studies linked the devices to severe complications and potential need for revision surgery. Side effects from transvaginal mesh include bleeding, tissue damage, limited mobility, organ perforation and severe pain.
